Dixon and Hall Ltd. was only established on June 19th 2000 but through it's Managing Director Mr Noel Dixon the company carries on a pharmacy tradition stretching back some 50 years. The company was formed from a restructuring of the business of Dixon and Spearman Ltd.
Dixon and Spearman was originally established as Dixon's Chemist in 1950. Essentially a family run business the Company management passed from the founder Mr Harry Dixon to Noel Dixon(son) and his co-directors Terry Spearman and Jaqueline Parkin(daughter).
The Company became incorporated in 1975 and until the year 2000 operated a chain of four retail pharmacies situated at Stanley, Lowfell, Whickham and Peterlee. On restructuring the new company (Dixon and Hall Ltd) now carries on the businesses at 79, Front Street, Stanley and 60, York Road, Peterlee and is managed by Noel Dixon and John Hall. Both NHS and private prescriptions are dispensed and a wide range of medicines, including the latest remedies are available.
The Industrial Pharmaceutical Supplies division (I.P.S.), based at Stanley, sells occupational health and first aid equipment to over 600 companies across the north-east. The customer base is broad and well established and ranges from large national companies such as Nissan, Philips and British Gas, to smaller local concerns covering all kinds of industry, business and services. * Send for a copy of our price list with over 10,000 current lines. *
There is a great deal of clinical expertise within the Company which has already become very successful. Research carried out on anticoagulation has led to a weekly clinics run at Washington Galleries Health Centre, Grangewood Surgery, Shiney Row and at 79, Front Street, Stanley. New tenders are now being accepted.
